Fonepay, Nepal’s largest payment network, achieved a significant milestone by hosting the 1st Meeting of the 21st Asian Payment Network (APN) Forum in Kathmandu on May 6, 2025. This marked the first-ever APN Forum held in Nepal, solidifying the country's growing presence in the regional digital finance landscape. 

The high-profile event brought together senior delegates from 14 payment networks across 13 countries, offering a collaborative platform to discuss the future of cross-border retail payments. The Forum focused on regional cooperation, innovation, and the evolution of digital payment systems in Asia. 

Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli Welcomes APN Delegates 

A major highlight of the APN Forum was the official visit by the delegates to the Prime Minister’s Office. The Rt. Hon. Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli personally welcomed the international guests and applauded the joint efforts of Fonepay and APN in promoting regional financial integration. 

During this meaningful exchange, the Prime Minister emphasized the importance of advancing Nepal’s digital payment ecosystem. He encouraged open discussions throughout the Forum regarding digital innovation, infrastructure development, and seamless cross-border integration of financial services.
